Thumbs Down Can't Connect to Servers

Since I've got Minecraft I've been unable to join any servers at ALL!
I type in the correct IP address but it either says on direct connect:'timed out'
Anyone know how I can fix this?

Have you port forwarded the Minecraft port? The port you want to forward is 25565. Hope it helps mate.

OK, port-forwarding is not the same for every rooter, so I can't really give a tutorial that is accurate. Bear that in mind before going through the process...

Open your browser and write on the search bar either 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.0

If the browser directs you somewhere, then good, if not you will have to try another method.

Anyway, if it directed you, then you are on the 'Rooter Configuration Menu' (I don't know how it is really called). Fill in the login page (if there is one) with the administrator details.

When you do this, you are pretty much on your own, sorry. Every rooter is configured defferently. I will help as best I can, but I am not promising much. Search for something like 'Forwarded Ports' or 'Open Ports'. Add the Minecraft port (25565) there, and you should be fine.

If that doesn't work, search in Google on how to forward ports.

If you know what brand your rooter is, type in Google '*insert brandname* Port Forwarding' and you will probably find a solution yourself.

    Wish you the best!

If you want to play on any server (not your own) you DON'T need to port forward.
Do you like my post? Did it helped you?

Really? I had the same problem, and port-forwarding solved it. But I am no expert, so don't take my word for it.

@JasonMcRay your router just forwarded it itself the blackcat is right

do you have an antivirus with additional firewall ?

it also might be that you have to forward your ports on your router

use this little program i wrote to test your internet connection for java
(just execute the test.bat file (with the gear icon) and paste the output here
now to the same as administrator(right click execute as administrator) if the output is different also paste it here)
